Stop Staring!

Dress - Stop Staring
Shoes - Target
Headscarf - eBay

These photos were taken towards the end of last year by Max, 5 minutes before I left for an event with one of my besties Renee

Renee and I went to Newcastle for the evening to take part in a film clip for the beautiful musician Lianna Rose, she is really talented and so super sweet too! It was such a fun, intimate night with other vintage and rockabilly lovers.

I love Stop Staring clothing and have a few of their dresses, they are high quality and extremely flattering. They have such a diverse range of styles too! I bought this particular dress a few years ago from a lovely lady that I follow on Instagram. I first wore this dress for my university graduation and thought this was a great opportunity to wear this show stopping dress again.

I will share the video on my blog when it is released!

Just playing around!

Souvenir Playsuit - Hell Bunny via Retro Glam
Shoes - Thrifted
Sunglasses - Asos

I have always loved this playsuit since I first saw it in a Hell Bunny catalogue. I thought that I missed out on this one, but I was lucky to snag the last playsuit (and on sale - yay!) from Retro Glam. You can also buy this print in a full dress or mini-dress from various stores.

These photos are from a few weeks ago, again at one of my favourite places - the beach, of course!

I have crazy beach hair flying in the wind, I spend my time walking and playing with my dogs and taking a dip in the water most of the time. Playsuits have become a perfect outfit choice. From walking straight off the beach and over to the beach cafe for a coffee, playsuits are a perfect transitional piece for the beach..

Grapefruit Bikini - Red Dolly Swimwear Part 2

Grapefruit Print Bikini with matching headband - c/o Red Dolly Swimwear (Available now!)
Sunglasses - Asos

This has to be one of the cutest bikinis ever! I love the fruity print and the vibrant blue fabric. I have always wanted a matching headband to go with a bikini and here it is! I love that Red Dolly Swimwear offers matching headbands as it really does just top off what already is a cuteness overload!

Again, you can have the option of adding padded cups to your order. I find the bikini to be extremely comfortable and supportive. The swim bottoms fit extremely well and sit nicely too and the swim top fits perfectly for my bust.

The top would even look cute with a high waisted skirt/shorts during summer, which is great for walking around the local beach shops and cafes with my dogs and family.

I spend a lot of time at the many local beaches so cute, reliable, unique and comfortable swimwear is always important to me.

Red Dolly Swimwear is definitely a brand I would recommend as both of their full piece swimsuits and bikinis are of high quality.

Part 2 of my interview with Heather, designer of Red Dolly Swimwear:

How would you describe your aesthetic?
I usually see a fabric or trim, and then a design or style comes to me. I do make a lot of prints out of my signature style, But I also like to change it up a bit throughout the years.

Who is your biggest inspiration?
My Children!! I started really working on my own designs after I had my son. he inspired me to work hard and Create my dream. I knew that nothing was going to happen unless I made it happen. And also the fact that I gained some baby weight and needed to cover up. lol. Its funny but true. That is How Red Dolly started.

What is your favourite design from Red Dolly Swimwear?
My favorite is still my First design ever. The Red and white polka dot one piece.

What's your motto?
Do what you love, and Do it your way!
I love what I do, but I also love my family and living life. Work is not everything, so I like to make time for traveling, spending time with friends, and of course vintage shopping! Life is too short to work non stop.

And lastly, what is in store for you in 2015?
New prints, as you can see on the lovely Kayla! and new collaborations with other brands, models, and photographers. I am also looking forward to doing more events, and getting out there and meeting more of my customers. Love you all!

Roses

Dress - Bernie Dexter
Shoes - I Love Billy
Necklace - 1950s Vintage
Hairflower - Handmade

I received this amazing dress for my birthday in December from my beautiful friend Harlow Darling.

For some reason I don't have enough yellow in my wardrobe and I love that Harlow picked this wonderful dress. The pink and red roses with green leaves on the yellow background is such a perfect combination and it is quickly becoming one of my favourite Bernie Dexter dresses that I own.

I purchased quite a few of the Bernie Dexter dresses that have thin straps last year as they are great for wearing in Summer. I am wearing the Chelsea cut but the Frenchie (which I also love) has thin too. So I was even more over the moon when I unwrapped this dress. I am looking forward to wearing a cute cardigan with this dress when the weather is cooler. But for now I will enjoy prancing around all summer in this dreamy dress.

Do you have a favourite style dress for summer?

Leopard Print Love

Edith Cardigan - c/o Voodoo Vixen
Cilla Shorts - c/o Voodoo Vixen
Shoes - n/a
Sunglasses - n/a

On a cool summer night I wore my Voodoo Vixen Cardigan with my Cilla Shorts out for dinner. I would usually wear a dress or a skirt but these shorts are very sophisticated and the velvet fabric makes it feel quite luxurious for an evening out.

The full length cardigan (which I wore as a blouse) made the shorts feel a bit more dressy for a restaurant and created a nice balance with the shorts.
The Edith cardigan has a faux fur collar which is removable, I usually prefer to wear it with the collar in Autumn and Winter, it's nice to be able to wear it two ways.

I also love these Voodoo Vixen shorts with a simple t-shirt or singlet to keep it a bit more casual (and summer appropriate during the day). The fabric is not heavy and the fabric is great for warmer weather (with the option to transition them for cooler weather too),

In Winter I plan to wear them with tights underneath as velvet is a great winter fabric as I associate velvet with the cooler seasons, so this contrast of wearing velvet in Summer has been fun! I was drawn to these shorts as they have been created with most seasons in mind and the fact that they can be dressed up makes them a great addition to my wardrobe.

I wear size small in Voodoo Vixen, these shorts run a bit large though they still fit nicely and I don't mind a bit of extra room. They are comfortable to eat in, which is always an important factor and the fabric does not itch at all.

I can't wait to style them in Winter!

The Dottie Dolly - Red Dolly Swimwear Part 1

Sunglasses - Asos

I have been aware of California based brand Red Dolly Swimwear for a few years now, I bought the white Marilyn swimsuit a few years ago and plan to blog that again soon. It has been great to work with the talented Heather and to blog this beautiful swimwear brand once again.

I couldn't resist The Dottie Swimsuit, I love blue and  red, so this swimsuit was a perfect choice, the colour of the fabric is so vibrant and really great quality. The swimsuits are made with soft, comfortable swimwear fabric (Stretch poly spandex and elastic) which makes it nice for swimming and sitting by the beach or pool for extended period of time. I love having fun and vibrant swimsuits as I live by so many beautiful beaches, it's nice to be both fashionable and comfortable in these vintage inspired pieces.

Red Dolly Swimwear is fully lined and you have the option of adding padded cups to your swimwear which is always a plus. Red Dolly Swimwear is made to order and is available in size small, medium, large and extra large (see full measurements on website). The Dottie swimsuit is also available as a bikini.

Red Dolly Swimwear has so many beautiful designs and fabrics to choose from, these hand made swimsuits are really special and made to last.

Part 1 of my interview with Heather, designer of Red Dolly Swimwear:

How did you get into fashion/vintage fashion?

I was introduced to sewing at a very young age. My Grandmother and great Grandmother were both worked in sewing factories before I was born. They kept their industrial machines, and I grew up watching them sew and make clothing and things for the house. I think that sparked something in me. I loved the fact that they could just make or mend something when they had the urge.

What sparked your interest in Swimwear design?
Honestly, I could not find a swimsuit that fit me well! After having my son I wanted more coverage. something Classy and still cute. I figured I'd try my hand at it, and I loved the way my first suit came out!

How did Red Dolly Swimwear Start and how has it grown (Red Dolly Swimwear for babies, girls and women)?
Red Dolly started, as I mentioned before due to the lack of swimsuits I could find that I liked. I went to school for Fashion design, but never had an interest in swimwear. I worked on dresses, and reworking vintage pieces. I have had a love for Vintage since a very young age. So I think my "needs" and "wants" sort of came together when I wasn't expecting. Since starting my women's line, I was inspired by my niece a few years ago to start a girls line, and just this last year I had my baby girl, and just had to do baby suits! I am obsessed with the mommy and me matching suits! Now I am working on accessories, and possibly tops and dresses.

Does living in California have a significant impact on your swimwear designs?

Yes, I think so! Having nice weather pretty much all year long helps. And there is so much inspiration all around. From the beaches to the Art driven cities, and so many creative people. Its hard not to be inspired.
