Flapper Dress | Blue Velvet Vintage + A Video!

Flapper Dress w/ black slip - Courtesy of Blue Velvet Vintage
Shoes - eBay (spray painted gold by me)

I have always been fascinated with 1920s fashion and history. I took my inspiration from a number of sources, however, my main inspiration was Tilly Devine who was portrayed by actress Chelsie Preston Crayford in the Australian series, Underbelly: Razor (This television series is inspired by true events and by author, Larry Writer). The main characters in this television series are a lot more glamorous than they were in real life... But it was a good excuse to show all the glitz and glam.

Blue Velvet Vintage offers a range of vintage reproduction clothing, a huge range of 1920s style flapper dresses, their own house brand of flirty fifties frocks and even a range of authentic vintage clothing. Their shipping was super fast from the US to Australia too!

I have always dreamed of owning a dress like this and when Blue Velvet Vintage offered me one of their amazing 1920s reproduction dresses to review I instantly envisioned what I could do with this dress. I can't wait to wear it out and enjoy it for many years to come.

These dresses are exclusive to Blue Velvet Vintage and they are made so beautifully. The bead work is amazing, words can't describe the detail of it, which is why I have made such a long post. I must mention that the satin slip was the same length as the dress, I took the slip up so I could dance and be a bit of a showgirl (You can move comfortably in the original slip length). I hemmed it over so I can release the length again if I want to.

I decided last minute after taking photos to film a few quick dance moves so you could see how amazing the dress looks when dancing! I have a jazz and tap dancing background so I tried so hard not to break out the tap dancing... Maybe another time perhaps??

This truly is a special garment and it gave me the opportunity to use my Great Grandmother's Marcel Wave clips and they are in such beautiful condition too. I would love to create this look again complete with the faux bob. I don't think authentic looking hair and make-up is necessary to wear one of these dresses, I just could not resist as it is a style I have always wanted to try! This dress is definitely worth every penny.

PetalBerri

Headscarf and Earring set - c/o PetalBerri
Dress - 1950s Vintage
Necklace - Vintage
Shoes - Spendless Shoes

PetalBerri products are proudly made in Adelaide, Australia by Aimee. I am really into accessorising more this year and I couldn't wait to try these beautiful handmade products.

The packaging is so cute and the range of fabrics that Aimee sources for her designs are very unique, I think there is something for everyone. I wore one of my favourtie vintage dresses as I thought that it would go perfectly with the red theme! The matching earrings are such a great touch though, I love pretty little details like that. The headscarf and earrings are really well made and very affordable.

I've had this vintage dress for a couple of years now and it is so comfortable. I like that I can dress it up a bit or just wear it quite casual with flats and my hair back. The detail on the skirt is so pretty and I love that chambray fabric is very practical and long lasting. I was lucky to pay under $20 for it too.

You can find PetalBerri on their websiteEsty, Facebook and Instagram.

Here fishy, fishy, fishy!

Fifi relaxing and Leo running towards the camera! My best little friends!

Playsuit set - Bettie Page Clothing (Now Tatyana Boutique)
Sunglasses - ASOS
Sandals - Big W

These photos are from my weekly beach walk a fortnight ago. I have featured this fish themed playsuit two times previously on the blog already, it is one of my favourites so it seems natural to showcase it on the blog each summer.

I love everything about it and how comfy it is, I wear my swimsuit underneath just incase I decide to take a dip in the water. The dogs are so good, when my mum takes my blog photos at the beach they happily cool off in the water, sniff around the sand and play together. They don't mind waiting at all when they are at their favourite place.

When we walk towards the beach-side shops after a walk and swim, Fifi loves to check out the stores and just be surrounded by people whilst saying hello to other dogs passing by with their owners. I love living in small beach towns, there is just something so relaxing about the atmosphere and people.

Elise Design

Eloise Dress - Courtesy of Elise Design
Shoes - I Love Billy
Sunglasses - ASOS

Late last year I was lucky enough to model for designer Thu Nguyen of Elise Design for her 10th Anniversary Spring Party. I was amongst many beautiful and talented women and it was such a fun night. Thu kindly gifted each model a dress at the end of the night. I fell in love with this 1940's style dress that I modelled on the night.

Elise Design uses the most beautiful fabric and the prints are so unique. The fit and fabric are both very comfortable. Another great feature that I love is pockets and the Eloise dress has two pockets at the front which even fits my phone. The matching belt is a great finishing touch too, I adore a matching belt.

This dress is definitely a favourite and so different to anything else I own. Be sure to check out many more wonderful designs on the website

Roses are red...

Rocky Road that I made Max!

Instagram pic of Max and I!

Dress - Hell Bunny
Shoes - Novo

For Valentine's Day we usually just do something we both love, eat and watch movies! We went out for lunch and then we cooked a nice home-cooked meal later that night. I made Max Rocky Road as a treat. Now it is an evening of watching movies and Bob's Burgers.

I have been excited to wear this dress for a while now and decided to save it for Valentine's Day so I could of course team with the theme. The heels are a perfect match too! This Hell Bunny dress is also convenient as it is comfortable for eating and lounging around in (so important)!
